King County, in which some of Washington's most desirable and expensive waterfront property lies, has long fetched top prices for homes on the water.
But in the past two years, that's become dramatically true, with median sale prices rising steadily — across the whole county — for waterfront homes from Jan. 2019 to March of this year, according to a report by Realogics Sotheby's International Realty.
The uptick in prices is striking, because for the most part, King County waterfront property has never been cheap. With typical economic shifts, areas that have been under-valued are those that show the most striking appreciation in the least amount of time, but that is not the case in King County.
The table below prepared by Chris Murphy of Compass Real Estate on the Washington Waterfronts blog, shows sales prices skyrocketing from the end of 2016 to the first quarter of 2021.
