Tacoma is now the nation's hottest housing market, with half of all homes there pending sale in just six days, down from 21 days a year earlier, according to a newly released survey.
The study, by online real estate firm Redfin, also found that 58% of homes in Tacoma sold above their list price during November, and that the average home price in Tacoma is now 17.3% higher than it was at the same time last year.
The Seattle market is hot, too, with homes there selling at the fastest rate in eight years. The average Seattle home sold for 13.1% more than last year in November.
The surge in prices and fast housing sales comes amid a record-breaking month for real estate sales nationwide. The housing market set multiple records in November for time on market, the share of homes sold above list price and the number of homes for sale.
